Challenge
The requirement
Large corner conference rooms connect to adjoining circulation and the floor plate. Without a barrier, fire and smoke would have a direct path into the building core. Each room sat at a different corner with its own geometry, so a single repeated design could not be applied across all cores. Every passive fire element required rigorous technical vetting and client sign-off.
Solution
How it was delivered
Window Techs worked with L&T's planning team through a structured AutoCAD approval process, incorporating revisions until every curtain received formal client approval before manufacture. The technical package included a Neco test certificate, an EXAP report to EN 15269-11, and a fire-resistance test report to EN 1634-1. Site execution followed with Work Method Statements and Work Inspection Reports.
Why fire curtains were specified
Fire curtains keep large conference openings fully usable during normal operation, then deploy automatically to close the room off from the core without permanent walls or doors that would compromise the space as a flexible meeting room.
