Fire Curtains
Smoke Curtains — BÖLDT FC-SM
Containing Smoke, Protecting Escape Routes

Overview
Smoke Reservoirs Without Permanent Bulkheads
Engineered to EN 1634-1 / EN 12101-1 · Manufactured in Jaipur
Smoke curtains descend automatically on smoke detection to subdivide large volumes — atriums, malls, warehouses and car parks — into smoke reservoirs, channelling smoke toward smoke and heat exhaust ventilation (SHEV) extract points and keeping escape routes clear of smoke logging for longer. Tested to EN 12101-1 for smoke control curtains and barriers, and deployed using the BÖLDT Fail-Safe Descent mechanism used across the BÖLDT fire curtain range, smoke curtains require no standby power to close on activation or power loss.
How It Works
Forming the reservoir
- —Concealed head box houses the curtain fabric above the ceiling line until activation
- —On smoke detection, the fabric descends to form a continuous downstand barrier
- —Smoke is channelled within the resulting reservoir toward dedicated extract points
- —Curtains can be configured in linked banks to subdivide a single large volume into multiple reservoirs
Application
Where This Curtain is Specified
Shopping mall and atrium smoke reservoir subdivision, warehouse and logistics facilities with SHEV systems, basement and multi-level car parks, and any large volume where smoke control strategy requires curtain boards that remain concealed during normal use.
